The View Host Shake-Ups!
Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving The View? The superstar added that there's one thing about her current act that her mother isn't a big fan of. </P><P> </P><P>"She doesn't like when I swear," Gaga said, with her mother adding, "You're effective without it." </P><P> </P><P>Another part of the candid chat also focused on Gaga's youth, during which she said she was frequently bullied. "There really is no difference between the bully and the victim," she said. "I would like to do a psychological autopsy on as many bullies and victims as possible ... How do we understand what breeds hatred, what breeds anger?" </P><P>She added that despite all "all the praise you receive, something inside of you is scarred by those experiences. ... Sometimes I feel worthless." </P><P>Parts of the special were also filmed at Harvard University last month. </P><P> </P><P>The singer and the talk show host were on hand at the prestigious college to launch Gaga's <a href="/news/articles/1680176/lady-gaga-launches-born-this-way-foundation-harvard.jhtml"><i>Born This Way</i> Foundation</a>. </P><P> </P><P>"I just have one thing to say before we get started: We got Oprah! ... It's been two years since 'Cris dropped his last album, <i>Battle of the Sexes,</i> and the Atlanta MC estimates that his next one will hit stores this spring. </P><P> </P><P>"I get the beats together and I put out my ideas, so I'd say we're maybe about 40 percent done," the rapper told <a href="http://www.billboard.com/column/the-juice/ludacris-eyes-spring-ludaversal-release-1005831952.story#/column/the-juice/ludacris-eyes-spring-ludaversal-release-1005831952.story" target="_blank"><i>Billboard</i></a> of his upcoming eighth LP, <i>Ludaversal,</i> which he anticipates will be out around May with a first single dropping in March. </P><P> </P><P>Luda, who dropped his <a href="/news/articles/1674369/ludacris-1.21-gigawatts-mixtape.jhtml"><i>1.21 Gigawatts</i> mixtape</a> in November, also revealed one big-time guest on the LP. An undeniable hitmaker, at times the nimble-tongued lyricist has been comical (2001's "Area Codes" and 2004's "Number One Spot") and in other instances delivered healthy amounts of substance (2006's "Runaway Love" and 2008's "Do the Right Thing"). For <i>Ludaversal,</i> he will get a little personal. </P><P> </P><P>"It's been a minute since I've been away from music, and there is just so much to talk about," he said. In front of a crowd that included <a href="/news/articles/1679223/lady-gaga-oprah-winfrey-foundation.jhtml">Oprah Winfrey</a>, the New York natives kicked off their inspirational foundation, hoping to empower the youth of America. </P><P> </P><P>"I was recently with the great Gloria Steinem, who said that sometimes the only way you can get attention to a problem is to freak people out," <a href="http://act.mtv.com/posts/lady-gaga-launches-born-this-way-foundation/">Oprah said at the event</a>." 'Break the form,' she said. You have to stop playing the game in order to change the content. Lady Gaga, with her music and her message and her own story, is breaking the form, and she is changing consciousness. She says that she wasn't put on earth just to sing songs; her passion is to be that force for good. The <i>Born This Way</i> Foundation is in line with so many of my core beliefs." </P><P> </P><P>Gaga enthusiastically opened up about the foundation and what she hopes to do with it. "I just have one thing to say before we get started: We got Oprah! ... Thank you from all of us — from my entire team, from my mother, from the bottom of the hearts of so many people who believe in what we're doing today," she said, wearing a chocolate-brown gown, brown lace gloves, towering platforms and a sparkly fishnet hat. </P><P> </P><P>"I'm not here today to give you an answer. And I'm not here to tell you I can solve these problems [of bullying]. This is about transformative change in culture over a period of time. One of the most important things I wanted to share with all of you today, it's no secret I speak out against bullying. This is not an anti-bullying foundation; this is a youth-empowerment foundation," she continued. "This is about changing the climate of the school environment and not putting the power in the hands of the teachers or the government. It is about the bubble effect. I don't believe they have the answers; I believe that you do." </P><P> </P><P>In addition to her fans, Gaga said her biggest influence to start the foundation is her own Mother Monster. "My mother really inspires me, because she talked about giving back ever since I was very, very young," she said. "And the more that I got to know my fans, the more that I realized that not everybody has that support system at home." </P><P> </P><P>Her mother later enthused that despite the snow outside, "It is even more beautiful inside because we are launching the foundation. The youth that is listening: you are the leaders of our future." </P><P> </P><P>Gaga also revealed another aspect of the foundation: "There is a bus now called the Born Brave Bus. So the Born Brave Bus is essentially a bus that is going to travel and follow my tour bus around the country, and it will welcome anyone from any walk of life to come and hang out and talk about love, acceptance, kindness and so forth. And the best thing about it it's going to be fun. It's going to essentially be a tailgate. This is not about saying, 'I need help,' but if you do, you can come. If you want to help someone else, you can come and say 'Hey, what's up?' " </P><P> </P><P>At the end of the day, Gaga said the foundation "is all about saying the power is in your hands. There really is sort of a focus on the victim, but what I want to point out today is that the victim and the bully are on the same playing field. How do we say, 'You are both equal members of society'? How do we not save not just the victim, but also the bully? I want the <i>Born This Way</i> Foundation to empower the youth of the world." </P><P> </P><P>Gaga further explained that one of the core values is teaching her fans to empower themselves to be "brave." </P><P> </P><P>"This, again, is not focused on bullying, the bravery aspect; I want for young people to know they have the power," she said. "How can we inspire young people to know they have the power to be brave?"</p>

And once those baby photos are out, I wouldn't be surprised to see her out and about occasionally with Blue doing mommy-related tasks." </P><P> </P><P>So, how should we expect to see those first photos? "Since Beyoncé chose to make the reveal by simply stepping out, and letting the throngs of photographers waiting for her to have a field day by taking tons of photos, her reveal allowed every media outlet to run the photos and make the reveal themselves, as opposed to if Beyoncé made an exclusive first post-baby picture deal with a magazine like <i>People</i> or <i>Us</i> or a monthly magazine like <i>Vogue</i> or <i>Vanity Fair</i>," he said. </P><P> </P><P>"Stylistically, had she done a proper shoot with a magazine, the photos would have a much more top-notch quality to them, but when celebs do such photo shoots, they open themselves up to scrutiny since the public sometimes shuns on celebs who get paid for such photos, which happens, especially with the celebrity weeklies," he continued. "But the photos are great, and it's obvious she worked with at least one photo agency, since she posted very clear photos of herself on her website." </P><P> </P><P>And, since B has already been out and about, that ultimately affects the value of future pictures of her. "Now that the first pics of her post-baby have been revealed, the monetary value of subsequent photos of her — without her baby, of course — will be of course pricey," Caplan said. "But ultimately less in value since there's already a set out." </P><P>Well, whenever B decides to make her big red-carpet statement or introduce the world to Blue Ivy, she's certainly already floored her friends with her dazzling post-baby looks. "She looks fantastic. She looks fantastic. I told her she looks so hot!" <a href="/news/articles/1678927/beyonce-blue-ivy-appearance.jhtml">Kelly Rowland</a> exclaimed to MTV News this week. <P>As <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> settles into the role of <a href="/news/articles/1677997/beyonce-motherhood-business.jhtml">motherhood</a>, she's attached to another role — this one for the big screen. The pop singer is reportedly in talks to join Ryan Murphy's latest flick. </P><P> </P><P>Billed as "One Hit Wonders," the film would be a musical comedy that could potentially star B's pal Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg. </P><P> </P><P>The film would follow Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz as pop stars who hit it big in the '90s as — you guessed it — one-hit wonders. In order to gain back some of the pop-star recognition they once had, the ladies join forces and form a supergroup. Samberg and his Lonely Island team would be involved in coming up with the movie's songs. Beyoncé's role is still unknown. </P><P> </P><P>The "Glee" creator would direct and co-write the screenplay with his frequent collaborators, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. He's expected to begin work on it after his big-screen adaptation of the play "The Normal Heart." <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2012/02/ryan-murphy-plans-one-hit-wonders-with-gwyneth-paltrow-reese-witherspoon-cameron-diaz-beyonce-and-andy-samberg/" target="_blank">Deadline</a> reports that the film's idea came after Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz dined with Murphy at New York hotspot Soho House and they all wanted to work on a fun project together. The pitch to Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal was reportedly scooped up in 10 minutes. Deals are currently being worked out. </P><P> </P><P>MTV News' email to Murphy's rep had not been returned by press time. </P><P> </P><P>Regardless of how this film shakes out, Beyoncé is reportedly already thinking about her music career again. Producer Ryan Tedder shared that the singer is prepping several <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/14/beyonce-prepping-two-new-albums">follow-up albums</a> to <a href="/news/articles/1665479/beyonce-4-leak.jhtml">2011's <i>4.</i></a> </P><P> </P><P>"The conversations about her next album literally just started and there [are] two projects happening. All I can say is, you kind of feed her the best that you have, and she's this phenomenal filter and she takes it all in." Dimmu Borgir Release Live DVD; Plus Led Zeppelin, Brujeria, & More News That Rules, In Metal File

<P>On October 14, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/borgir_dimmu/artist.jhtml">Dimmu Borgir</a>Dimmu Borgir — who just happen to be <a href="/news/articles/1593780/demi-lovato-metalhead-metal-file.jhtml">Demi Lovato's favorite black-metal band</a> — will release a a three-disc DVD/CD set called "The Invaluable Darkness," the band's first visual offering since 2002's "World Misanthropy." Boasting live footage shot last year, during gigs in Norway, Germany and England, "The Invaluable Darkness" demonstrates the unbridled furor of seeing Dimmu live, guitarist Silenoz said. </P><P> </P><P>"It shows the honest rawness and atmospheric darkness of our concerts," the Norwegian told <i>Metal File</i> last week, after <a href="/news/articles/1596201/in-this-moment-make-the-dream-a-reality-metal-file.jhtml">dismissing recent online rumors that his band's next LP would be coming out through Roadrunner Records</a>. "Basically, it shows the intense live side of the band, as opposed to the perfection and the cleanness of how we sound on our albums. It's just a different side to the band, basically." </P><P> </P><P>Dimmu Borgir began thinking about "The Invaluable Darkness" two years ago, but didn't start capturing footage until last summer, Silenoz explained, adding that the band will use its current stint on the Blackest of the Black Tour — which got underway Thursday night in Miami Beach, Florida, and also features the tour's founder, Danzig, along with </P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/moonspell/artist.jhtml">Moonspell</a>Moonspell, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/winds_of_plague/artist.jhtml">Winds of Plague</a>Winds of Plague and Skeletonwitch — to promote the DVD. Dimmu Borgir will not, however, use the tour to write material for their next LP. </P><P> </P><P>"It's our first time on Blackest, but Glenn [Danzig] had wanted to bring us out before [on the tour], but we weren't available until now," Silenoz said. "We've done Ozzfest before, but we're looking forward to this tour more. We did the main stage on Ozzfest, playing in f--_ing broad daylight. This tour will let us play in bigger places, but at the same time showcase more of what the band's about, visually. We are going to concentrate on the tour for now. Some years ago, we tried putting [material] together on the road, but once we got home, we listened back to it, and were like, 'What the f--- <i>is</i> this?' So, we just scrapped it all. We find it's so much better to totally focus on one thing at a time, and then, when that's over, you move on to the next [thing]. We don't really feel like we need to rush things, anyway, so we'll just take our time, and it's going to be what it's going to be." </P><P> </P><P>Dimmu Borgir hope to reconvene in late December to begin writing the follow-up to 2007's diabolically titled <i>In Sorte Diaboli.</i> "We have some ideas floating around already, but we haven't arranged any material yet," he said. "We'll start doing that once the touring for this DVD is over." The band's frontman, Shagrath, is also due to marry soon — he's engaged to actor Nicolas Cage's ex-girlfriend, Christina Fulton, so that may have an effect on when Dimmu finish their next album, which Silenoz said could be out this coming spring. </P><P> </P><P>"I'm sure [Shagrath] won't let anything get in the way [of] the band — I think, I hope," the guitarist said. "We don't need a Yoko [Ono] situation." </P><P> </P><P>While Dimmu have been at it going on 15 years now, Silenoz said he doesn't think their forthcoming material will be much of a departure from their previous black-metal offerings. </P><P> </P><P>"And we have always been about more than just that term, 'black metal,' " he said. "Luckily for us, the older you get, the less concerned you get with the categorization and putting labels on your music. Things start getting more and more limitless with us, and we know that we operate within certain frames. But we try not to analyze things too much, because it's just going to be working against you in the end. When we write new stuff, we don't think about what we should write — we just get together, and put material together, and if we like it, we keep it. That's the formula, if we even have a formula." </P><P> </P><P>Dimmu Borgir are definitely getting older — guitarist Galder will be missing Blackest because of a recent addition to his family, and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/susperia/artist.jhtml">Susperia's</a>Susperia's Cyrus will be filling in for him; while former <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/vader/artist.jhtml">Vader</a>Vader drummer Dariusz Brzozowski takes over for Hellhammer, who had to leave the band in 2007 after sustaining a neck injury that's now limited the use of his right arm. As Dimmu has gotten on in years, Silenoz admits they have failed to keep pace with some of the more extreme black-metal acts that have followed in their wake. </P><P> </P><P>"We helped open doors for the more extreme bands out there," Silenoz said. "I'm sure we helped open doors for bands like Watain, [insomuch as] people that had maybe started listening to us first then went on to the more extreme stuff. Let's face it — we're not as extreme as Watain and other bands like that, but we're fine with that." </P><P> </P><P>The Blackest of the Black Tour continues through November 10 in San Francisco. </P><P> </P><P>The rest of the week's metal news: </P><P> </P><P>Dimmu's tourmates on Blackest, <b>Winds of Plague</b>, have announced ex-<b>Azusa</b> drummer <b>Art Cruz</b> has joined their ranks — he replaced <b>Jeff Tenney</b>.
